Modern Technology with Not-so-Modern Origins
It’s easy to take the incredible advancements of modern technology for granted. The people of only a few decades ago would marvel at our smartphones, Roombas, and other technological tools that are now seen as commonplace.
The forms that technology has taken over the ages have varied, and what was considered highly advanced “tech” a few centuries ago doesn’t at all look like the sophisticated tools we use these days. Even so, there are some devices that people have been using for far longer than most would assume. In spite of the ultra-modern nature of some of our electronics, the idea for them, and in some cases even early prototypes, have been around for a lot longer than most people realize.
It can be quite a surprise to look back at history and see tools that are a bit more familiar than you would’ve thought.
